Copilot Studio is the enterprise path, not consumer chat
Microsoft’s actionable arbitrary-MCP path is Copilot Studio’s onboarding wizard. It supports Streamable HTTP and OAuth dynamic discovery, then wraps the server in Power Platform connection and data-policy controls. This is attractive for an organization that wants to govern which agents and users may call. It is also why ordinary consumer Microsoft Copilot is not the same setup: the tenant agent-builder surface, not the brand name, makes the connection possible. [1][5]
GitHub Copilot is the developer alternative
Developers using GitHub Copilot in VS Code can add the ClawCall URL as an HTTP MCP server and start OAuth from the Auth CodeLens in mcp.json. That path is lighter than building and publishing a Copilot Studio agent, but it is aimed at an IDE user rather than an enterprise channel deployment.
